Living and working In Houston, Texas

Master of Fine Arts, Painting, Sculpture. Modern Philology.

I was born in Seville, Spain and I have lived and worked for the last twenty years in Houston, Texas. I am interested in the way us Humans think and try to explain the world we live in. How we communicate these thoughts and the tools we use communicate them drew me first to study Philosophy and Philology at the University of Seville, Seville, Spain.  Years later I went back to school to formalize my investigations in art. I now have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Art History and a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture and Art History, both from the University of Houston. Houston, Texas.

I have been drawing all my life, ever since I can remember. My first drawings were done in the stucco walls of my parent’s home. Drawn using a graphite pencil, they created an indelible experience and established the use of a soft and sensual medium like graphite, on a solid support that would last all my life.

I am fascinated with process, perhaps because in my childhood years I was always drawn to observe the skills of those with humble occupations, like masons and other highly crafted laborers. My extensive education in humanities and the antiquities of my native city are at the core of how I express my self in my work.

I was awarded the Cynthia Woods and Dolores Mitchell awards and scholarship for my outstanding and creative work.

My work is widely collected in Europe and America being part of collections in Austria, Spain, England, Germany, France, the United Sates and Venezuela.
